Several medical societies have issued statements warning against the use of injectable fat removal treatments known as lipolysis, lipotherapy, or lipo dissolve

American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS)

Founded in 1970, ASDS' 4700 members are recognized in the medical community as leaders in the field of dermatology and advocates for patient safety (from http://www.asds.net). In January 2006, the ASDS issued a warning about injection lipolysis, stating "No pharmaceutical preparation is licensed or FDA-approved for mesotherapy for anti-aging purposes or for the reduction of adipose tissue."
