New Zealand Health Authority Strengthens Lipodissolve Regulation
New Zealand's drug regulatory authoirty, Medsafe, has called for the immediate discontinuation of all advertising of injection Lipodissolve. The basis for this decision is that Lipodissolve is a medicinal product that has not been approved for distibution anywhere in New Zealand. Companies that advertise an unapproved medicine can be fined up to $100,000 and indiviuals can be fined $20,000 or jailed for up to six months. Additionally, the New Zealand Medical Protection Society, which provides indemnity insurance for health professionals removed all insurance coverage for phosphatidylcholine injections in 2005.
